Even though blogging can be a great way to earn a passive income, it can also be a very rewarding experience as well. Most of the time when someone starts a blog they do so to reach out to a specific audience online and build meaningful connections.
To be really effective at this process, a blogger must devise ways of ensuring that their website or blog can compete favorably against similar sites competing for the same audience. To effectively attract traffic, there are lots of techniques used and this post will highlight some of these methods for popularizing a new blog.
Table of Contents
1. Include a Tab for Visitors to Post Comments:
Comments on a website give an interactive forum between the owner and visitors. When visitors have a chance to post their comments on the site, they are likely to follow up on the progress of the comments. It also gives the visitors the courage to interact because they know their comments are making a difference. It will enhance participation and encourage more frequent visits from people who feel their comments are being taken seriously.
2. Introduce a Subscriber Option for Visitors Who Want to Keep in Touch:
When regular visitors like the content, there is no better way of keeping them updated on new developments other than through a subscription service. Each time there is anything new on the site, visitors on your subscription list will get information prompting them to visit and check out the new development. This means that even visitors who might not have an urgent need to check out the site will get reminders about its existence. If promoting a product on the site, periodic updates will get better reach especially if you have a huge number on your subscription list. Such a list regularly reminds clients who have come to the site about your products.
3. Use Word Of Mouth to Promote the Blog:
Besides using online concepts to promote a website or blog, it is imperative to use word of mouth to inform people about the website and its products. When people hear about trendy things by word of mouth, they are likely to tell every other person they meet. That way, the popularity of the blog grows significantly. With everyone that gets the information, there is a chance that he or she will tell more people especially if they like whatever they get from the site.
4. Links Are So Essential in the Promotion of a Blog or Website:
Starting a new blog and popularizing it to the point where it can reach as many people as the owner may want is not an easy task. It is for this reason that bloggers rely on other blogs to enhance their reach. There are high traffic blogs that receive more visitors because of different reasons. When a relatively unpopular blog gets links to or from such high traffic websites, their chances of becoming popular are very high. Backlinks from high traffic websites always raise the status of a new site. Read more on Moz about link earning strategies.
5. Use of Pictures and Videos:
Pictures and videos play an important role on a website. This is mainly because pictures and videos tend to surpass language barriers. A picture communicates to anyone who can see the image. This is
a good way of reaching everyone with information. Many people easily leave a website upon realizing that the language used is one that they do not understand. A video on site and pictures will give everyone a hint of what the website is all about.
6. Identify a Specific Niche for the Blog:
Popularizing a new blog without the right conversion or potential to produce a side income is not all a blog owner needs. Instead, every blogger wants visitors that can help them realize their dream of starting the website. The only way one can eliminate unnecessary web traffic and concentrate on the relevant ones is by identifying a specific niche. Great tips, but be careful of the annoying pop-up / overlay window asking for visitors to sign up for the newsletter. Chances are, if the readers likes the content they can subscribe at the end of an article via RSS or social signals (liking the site on FB for example). It annoys the heck outta me when all those windows keep popping up, even when I’ve just visited the site for a few seconds!
